A question about an indoor plant?
I recently transferred a Hyopoestes that was a starter plant to hanging basket in the same basket a planted some small flowers to start growing with it. Everything seems to be going well with the soil (I picked a 5 pound bag of dirt at walmart) and now Im seeing what looks like white fuzz on the top of the soil. Can anyone explain what this is and how to prevent it. Thanks in advance.
The planter is plastic I believe, I never considered hard water causing the issue. I will try switching it up and see what happens.
There are a couple of possibilities: something is leeching out of the soil; if it is a terra cotta pot, the pot could be leeching salt; your water could be hard.
The first two will correct themselves over time. The last one can be corrected by either using a water purifier or purchasing distilled water for your plants.
